Advantages of Patented Materials

Accordingly, the unprecedented combination of ultimate material properties and the most economic powder process contribute the following advantages.  Genius Metal's technologies are available for licensing.

For cutting tool applications

Higher hardness largely increases tool life, reduces tool change time & tool cost for the machining industries. Higher temperature capability extensively enhances cutting speed and improves productivity to gain more profits for the customers.

1.      Cal. Polytechnic State University received U.S. Navy Research Fund to conduct machining test with the inserts made with Genius Metal’s patented material on cutting superalloy. It showed astonishing results.

        -  Machining tests in cutting titanium & steel are underway

2.     The K grades developed and recommended for cutting tool & wear parts are shown here, which are available through licensing.

The material can be applied in dry cutting to eliminate coolant for environmentally friendly machining operation, especially suited for countries with high environmental restrictions such as those in Europe

For ultra-high temperature applications

Some of our patented materials have temperature capability up to 3,000º C along with outstanding erosion resistance to meet the toughest requirements in aerospace industry. Potential application as friction stir welding tool for titanium and high-temperature alloys is also under investigation.

1.     U.S. Air Force fund: to purchase our patented ultra-high temperature material for  evaluation of temperature and strength capabilities

2.     Boeing Corp. is buying our patented ultra-high temperature cermet for the purpose of evaluation.

3.     Oak Ridge National Laboratory: to purchase our patented material for the evaluation of capability as friction stir welding tool for welding steel

4.     Metal Industries R & D Center, Taiwan: to purchase our patented material for the evaluation of capability as friction stir welding tool for welding copper & titanium
